Wow drawings!

So, I finally hired an artist to create illustrations for my card game! Weee~ At last, my CCG gets some degree of professionalism. It kinda gets depressing when it's all just plain text, add in the corrections i make on the cards themselves using a regular red pen. Hopefully, by putting illustrations, beta testing it will be slightly less painful to do.

I paid 3500php for 50 illustrations.. Ouch. This is the first time I had to spend this much cash for my CCG. After considering how far the game is from ever being completed, and how uncertain the sales potential is, I'm beginning to think if it's worth it. Then I got too tired thinking so far ahead so I just paid them the damn money. Illustrations baby!!! *Sigh* I wish i had drawing skills ><;; I actually took the minor flaw "crappy drawing" for my character so that I can gain some freebie points to put into my "lame card tricks" skill. I also have 2 points on allies who i can call for my drawing needs! Character build tweaking! XD

Political Telenovela

Well, there's a new twist in the political drama. Gloria finally admitted that the voice in the tapes was indeed her's, which of course created more uproar in the opposition. Things are sure getting spicier every day. Oh well, there goes the economy ><;;

It's funny, I should be more concerend about this, but frankly, i'm as concerned as a couch potato watching one tree hill. Sure it's interesting and all, but somehow, it just doesn't bother me too much. I guess because of all the political turmoil that has happened in the past (edsa revolutions, coups, etc etc), we feel that all of this is just ordinary. Take Edsa2. Sure, go to edsa shrine and you can see the rallies and stuff. But at the same time, most people are probably malling in makati, or still going to bars in malate. Oakwood mutiny? Yeah, you can't go to makati, lots of activities there. Instead go to Megamall or something. The importance and magnitude of events like these have been reduced from "oh no, what will happen to the country" to "damnit, i wanted to go to glorietta". We just sit back and watch the drama unfold as if watching Full House or something. Oh well, i hope this shit settles down soon or else the Philippine economy will be in a world of pain ><

Disclaimer: I'm not speaking for everybody. Don't sue me.

cross the bridge when you get there

Here's a liberating piece of thought.

Breathe.

People think about stuff too much. Really. All you need to do is focus on things that you have power to change. Stop worrying about the crap that happens in life. These things are already given. All you can do is to choose how to act best in the given situation. Stop thinking about the past too much because there's nothing you can do to change it, and stop worrying about the future too much because it is uncertain. There are just too many factors that affect life for us to fathom. Believe in the resolute urgency of now. Live life one day at a time.

Blogging on a full stomach

I just came from Monaco. Man, I'm such a pig. After having some angelhair pasta, hakaw, and tofu at home for dinner, my cousin and I went to Monaco for some "desserts". These "desserts" turned out to be longsilog and crepe lolz. Yummy... Sooo full... I always liked Monaco. Cheap, inexpensive, and yummy food, great coffee (especially the hazelnut one), good crepes, and a cozy atmosphere (couches! yey).

Anyway, this morning was the most tiring morning i had the whole year. I had to accompany my sis to makati because our car's alternator (whatever that is) was busted, and the other car was affected by color coding. We had to take a cab. So there. Up at 630am, morning rituals, then off to makati. I went to Mcdo in paseo for breakfast because I was really craving for the Big Breakfast Meal. As I was eating, i can't help but feel OP. Everywhere i look, it's long sleeves, and slacks, and tie. Good thing I wore my nice pair of JEANS and TSHIRT (booyah!) which I'm pretty sure has no holes in it. I ate really quickly and left before people notice me ang give me the "what-a-friggin-bum" look. Anyway, from Paseo, I walked all the way to MRT station (wow it's really far!), went to Ortigas, bought some rhumba cream frap (hope you liked it ^^), then LRT to Recto, then walked to tutuban meralco to pay some bills(wow! it's even farther!), then homebound. Tired and sweating like a pig. But it's worth it ^^;;

CCG making: Chaos Theory in action

I'm currently listening to Bamboo's Hallelujah. That song is just hot! Sooo... inspirational, of sorts. Really love that song. Why can't all local songs have the same quality as this one? It just makes me puke listening to all those crappy spaghetti song mutations. I always have this sudden urge to choke the life out of the guy who thought about that idea. Damn him to the nine circles of hell! But then again, they are very popular. Fortunately, this is my blog, i say what i feel muwahahahaha.

I beta tested my CCG again today. I also played some classic magic the gathering. White weenie anyone? XD *sigh* There's still a whole lotta loose ends in my game. No proper card control, gameflow is not smooth enough, combat system still needs improvement, argh! So many dynamic aspects that i have to modify. Changing with one aspect of the game affects every other aspect, making it really difficult to find the right "mix" and create a good game. Trying to create my own CCG makes me realize the beauty, simplicity, and (gasp) perfection of magic the gathering. Hmmm... back to the ol' drawing board. Have to make adjustments.. How i long for the day when everything in my CCG just fits perfectly, when I can confidently say "this is a great game".. *sigh* But sooon, my masterpiece will be complete! muwahahahaha.

P.S. muwahahaha!!! -> evil laugh. supposedly sinister sounding and scary.

Batman Begins, and some Sun Tzu

Holy non-crappy movie, Batman! It's been a while since there's been a Batman Movie that didn't suck. Now, this is really great, contrary to what film critics out there say (most of the time, i don't listen to what they say anyway. go judge some foreign art film instead!). Dark, action packed, and smartass characters who snap funny comeback lines, what more can you ask for? Won't put too many spoilers since there are some people who haven't watched it yet (yes kabo, that's you LOL), but its one hella movie. It kinda makes you want to jump from roof to roof and fall/climb from/to high places. Weeeee~ Bungee jumping anyone?

Anyway, we watched Batman in g4. Played a little tekken5 before watching. Asuka is just plain cheesy. But then again, im not very familiar with Asuka's moves which translated to me not knowing how to block. I beat up some steve players though. XD Hmm.. i really have to familiarize myself with Asuka's moves... Have to play her sometime. As Sun Tzu said, know yourself, know your enemies, and know your frame advantages, and you'll win in tekken, or something to that effect. My translation of his original Chinese text may be a bit off but im pretty sure that's what he meant.

the 6 star hotel? O.o

Went to Hyatt hotel tonight to have an advanced Father's Day celebration. This hotel was supposedly a "6 star" hotel, though I honestly don't know what makes it sooo different from other 5 star hotels. They all look the same to me.

Anyway, we ate at the Market Cafe at the second floor. This was probably the first time I ever saw a hotel restaurant become fully booked (the restau was really huge too). Needless to say, there were too many people standing in the buffet table which makes it nearly impossible to get those damn tempuras. When a new tray is placed on the buffet table, some selfish moron is gonna dump all the tempuras into his plate. Curses... I was tempted to "accidentally" bump him, causing his plate to drop. If I can't have those shrimp tempuras, nobody will. Doubly so for selfish bastards. Don't get the whole tray.. please leave some for others you greedy jerk... ><

Anyway, I was too tired and sleepy, the restau was too crowded, thus I was not in the mood to eat ><;; Oh well. On the plus side, my bro paid me 100php to teach him my "bottle cap thru mineral bottle" trick Yey! easy money.

Its now 1:15am, I'm tired but not yet sleepy (must be coz of all the caffeine I had. 2 latte's = sleepless in tayuman.) But still, this had been a really really fun day. =)

Ciao.

It just doesn't sound right

Its now 12:30am, and I'm listening to the radio, trying to bore myself to sleep. A commercial for a painkiller plays. Advil, more powerful than pain.

I guess I have a really weird processing of information, perhaps the effects of drowsiness, but then again, maybe I'm just plain weird. When I heard the tagline, more powerful than pain, the first thing that came into my mind is, well, something more painful than pain itself. Hmmm.. Masochists are too small a niche for Advil to market.. tsk tsk.

Damnit, I'm rambling. Time to sleep.
*Grumble* I'm hungry. Sigh. How I wish I'm still living in my dorm. I want Red Panda!! ><

fun with lightsabers

yeah! fear meh!

Red
You were destined to have a Red Lightsaber.

Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is
associated with energy, war, danger, strength,
power, and determination as well as passion and
desire. You have seen the Strength and Power of
the Dark Side of the Force and have you thirst
for more of it.

random stuff, random stuff, random stuff

tuesday. I love the early parts of the week. Why? It's because orders don't come till wednesday and thursday. So, work is generally light during mondays and tuesdays. Emailed suppliers, made a few calls, updated the database, and poof! done!

What to do with all this free time? Do something productive. I watched some infomercials! Damnit. Int -1. There was this commercial for a massager (called handy roller) that claims it can make you slimmer without having to exercise. It uses *quote* infrared high frequency vibrations and infrared microwave to penetrate and destroy fat *end quote* wtf? that doesn't even make sense. Isn't there a law against this? And on top of that, they didn't have beatiful models, who never used their product, for the commercial. Cheapskates. Aww crud. Watched something more informative instead (Discovery channel's Airplane Crash Investigations. CSI, airplane mode)

LSS> slapshock's million miles. astig!

Politics. Does anybody still give a damn?

Idon't read the papers. It just gets me down. There's just bad news every day. I think they can create a generic newspaper for people to read. They can sell em at, say 50 bucks, and buyers won't have to read the newspaper again. Front page headlines include: opposition wants current president to step down, more evidence about corruption, unrest in the Middle east, Kim Jong Il says We got em nukes, Charlotte Bobcats lose.

Reading news about political shit sucks. There's absolutely no telling if people are telling the truth. Take the recent "wiretapping" shit. I mean on one hand, all of it can be totally legit. But on the other hand, there are thousands of programs out there that can create such an audio file out of thin air. Jeez. I hope the public realizes how easy it easy to create that crap. As I said, there's no way to know if people are telling the truth, there's no way to know if politicians are truly sincere. But, we are sure about one thing....

Politicians are all greedy liars.

So, people lie, cheat, steal. Evidences can be falsified, manufactured, planted. Throw in thugs, crime lords, jueteng lords, and all those underground lords out there. There really is no point in reading the damn news, the line between fact and fiction is blurred beyond recognition. Just read the sports section, and read how the bobcats lose, again.

fred tay, gullible fool

I was approached yesterday by a couple of "working students" who gives you a card that says they are selling dried mangoes to "pay for their tuition and support their familly". Damnit! I don't have the heart to turn them down. So i bought one.

This isn't the first time this happened. A similar incident happened in college too, which needless to say, resulted in my friends all laughing at me LOL. Oh well. Those dried mango sellers sure know which person is the gullible one. ><

the sunday morning post

Sunday morning.

I've been getting this emptiness of the soul lately. I feel like having this big bottomless hole inside of me that i have no idea how to fill. Have you ever felt it? A profound silence and loneliness that has no specific reason and origin? Damnit, I want some beer.

Or maybe some dimsum.

Yey it worked! Went to Wan Tsai for lunch yesterday (saturday). Saturday lunch always cheers me up. The day is always better with some siomai and hakaw. Mmmm... After that, sipped ice tea while listening to some Linkin Park in the warm (not hot) afternoon sun.

I was supposed to meet my cousin and his HS friends in greenhills around 8pm to watch Mr. and Mrs Smith. 3pm to 8pm free time. So i hanged around and killed some time (lots of it). No big deal. My CCG needs some revisions and shit anyway. I also played a little Tekken.

Good things come to he who wait! I was hanging around the arcade for around an hour when the guy playing tekken suddenly asked me if i wanted to play, he said he need to go already. Yey! Free games.

Fast forward, we ate at Pasto, didn't watch a movie but opted to disco bowl in eastwood. Got home at around 3am. Money left for the week. 250 php. (edit: Played billiards this afternoon, money left for the week, 100 php ><. I need some quick money... Hmmm... I wonder who I can sue...)

And now, I'm feeling the emptiness of the soul once again. Bleh.

it's clean... it just smells funny. squish.

Rain. Rain is nice to look at. The smell of rain is also nice. And the cool breeze it usually brings is just refreshing. nice nice nice. Rain is not nice when you are outdoors and commuting. Damnit puddles of water that rain leaves on the ground. On the plus side, my shoe got really squeaky clean. Yeah. And so did my right sock. There's nothing more gross than wearing a moist sock all day. Blergh. Everytime you step, it goes squish squish squish squish.

Hmm.. it sounds funny when you say squish over and over again. squish squish squish squish.

squish squish.

Anyway, i got this handy dandy hand sanitizer with me,

squish.

I killed a mosquito with my hand earlier. Note, one hand. *clap clap clap* such magnificent display of dexterity. Then, being the hygienic guy that I am, I used the hand sanitizer. Green apple smell my a$$. After using it, my hands smelled like stinking garbage that was left to rot in some dark corner. What's the friggin point of having clean hands if it smells like horse manure? ><;; What am I supposed to say, don't let the smell fool ya, it's clean.

Good thing there aren't too many hand-sniffing people in the city. Gawd the stink.

squish.

Living my life, 5 minutes at a time. coz im BORED!

I can't believe it. 5 min. >< There must've been a spatio-temporal distortion of some sort that's causing space and time to contract into a pocket universe that moves relatively slower than the other universes in the continum. I have no idea what i'm talking about. But lookie, 3 extra lines of crap. That's my motto in life. Waste cyberspace, its free.

I've been practicing the one hand revolution the entire day. Its cutting a deck of cards in such a way that the top packet revolves down while the bottom packet goes up, all done in one hand. Quite an eye candy actually. Ah, another step to becoming a street magician. Am I bored or what? But then again, i really like doing card tricks. I really enjoy it when my audiece gets a good laugh (but sadly, they're laughing because of my poor performance. I show you, I'll show you all! *insert evil laugh* muwahahahaha). Anyway, I'm getting better, I think. Sleight of hands aren't a piece of cake ya know?

Toooddlelooo...

just a thought

We grow older each day...

Thats it. That's the thought.

No, i'm just kidding. That was just an attempt to stretch this post.

Anyway, as i was saying, we grow older each day. One day, we're goofing around in high school, then the next thing you know, we've graduated and started working. I, for one, feel that I haven't changed that much. I mean, damn I still feel I'm like that HS student. It's funny, compared to those high school days, we're supposed to be older (duh), more mature, more responsible, etc etc. But surprisingly, I really don't think I changed that much.

I dunno. Or maybe there's just no way to compare anymore. Something about looking at the past from the present. Damnit! I forgot all my philo! ><;; I think it's something like, if you look at the past from the present, you do not see the "past" perse, but your present interpertation of the past.

Everything changes but nothing is truly lost.

not very persuasive

In the endless battle of good and evil for the souls of humankind, good hardly puts up a fight. For example, in the Star Wars movie, when Anakin was having those visions of Padme dying, he consulted Yoda and Palpatine (well, he really wasn't asking for Palpatine's opinion)

Yoda: Train yourself to let go of the ones you love.
Palpatine: The dark side of the force can protect the ones you love.

Come on yoda... i know you can do better than that.
Needless to say, after that, young Anakin was doomed. (can you say wheeze?)
